Working on VERONICA MARS

Saturday, January 13th, 2007

Well, this year is looking great already. I’m off to San Diego over the weekend to work on the T.V. show VERONICA MARS, and just yesterday had an audition with casting director Paul Weber and his assistant Jennifer Lurey for a very interesting feature for which they are casting. Great office and really nice people.

Even my wife, Bebe, is getting in the act! She auditioned today for a one hour prime time game show for FOX entitiled SMARTER THAN A 5TH GRADER. They are looking for attractive and witty teachers to co-host the game show. How perfect Bebe would be for that! As always…time will tell…but the people at Mark Burnett Productions couldn’t have been more welcoming.

More later…

OUCH!

Well, in all my 25 years in the business…this has never happened before.

After having booked the commercial for Aphthasol…and gone to a costume fitting…the Aphthasol people decided they wanted to go for a different type. Apparently someone felt I wasn’t ‘big’ enough. So, they asked if I’d be willing to go to another callback – after I’d been to the costume fitting for the job I had already booked! I did…and then the Aphthasol people decided to go with another guy – a much larger guy. I guess my recent Weight Watchers meetings must be paying off!

So, I won’t be a ‘canker sore construction guy’ after all…but I wish them well with the campaign. Now I’ll just watch for it on T.V. and grumble to Bebe and the kids…”Grrrr…I could have constructed a much better canker sore than that guy!”

It’s like that old joke “How many actors does it take to screw in a light bulb? Ten. One to screw in the light bulb and nine to say ‘I could have done that better'”.

A week ago last Thursday I guest-starred in an episode of The Game, a very funny show that’s on Monday nights on the new network – The CW. The cast and crew couldn’t have been friendlier and more welcoming. I’ll announce the air-date for that episode when I get it.

Anyway, off to an audition for VERONICA MARS tomorrow…and last night my episode of TWO AND A HALF MEN was on again, so ‘canker sore’ or not…it’s starting out to be a good year already.

Hope your holidays were full of good cheer and here’s to a fabulous 2007!
